In a statement released on July 29, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the UAE's full solidarity with Jordan and its unwavering support for all measures aimed at safeguarding the kingdom's security and territorial integrity.
The attack represents the latest in a sustained campaign of Iranian aggression against Jordan. Throughout the ongoing 2026 conflict, Iran has launched a total of 204 missiles and drones at Jordanian territory, including strikes on air defense installations and military bases.
Strategic Targeting Pattern
Jordan's geographic position has placed it at the center of regional security tensions. The kingdom sits directly on a key flight path for Iranian projectiles targeting Israel, with its air defense systems having intercepted large numbers of missiles and drones over the past two years.
Just one week prior to this latest attack, on July 22, 2026, Jordan's military successfully intercepted four Iranian missiles targeting the Red Sea port city of Aqaba, while two others fell in uninhabited areas. The interceptions produced explosions visible from the nearby Israeli city of Eilat.
