Qatar, Egypt, Turkiye condemn Israeli violations in Gaza as strikes continue

Joint condemnation of Israeli violations

Qatar, Egypt and Turkiye have issued a strong joint condemnation of what they described as ongoing Israeli violations in the Gaza Strip, particularly targeting healthcare facilities and medical infrastructure, as two people were killed in fresh Israeli strikes southwest of Gaza City on Monday.

In a joint statement posted by Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on X, the three mediating countries said they "strongly condemn and denounce" the continuing Israeli actions in Gaza. The statement described attacks on civilians, including women and children, and healthcare infrastructure as a "flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law."

The condemnation comes as Israeli forces also conducted a raid in the city of Nablus in the occupied West Bank. Israeli military vehicles, accompanied by a bulldozer, entered the eastern area of Nablus amid heavy gunfire and tear gas to facilitate settler access to Joseph's Tomb, a site claimed as sacred by Israeli settlers who believe it contains the remains of the biblical patriarch Joseph. Palestinians regard it as the burial place of Sheikh Yusuf Dweikat, a local Islamic religious figure. The site is located in Area A under Palestinian Authority control.

The three mediators urged Israel to comply with its obligations under international law and fully implement the ceasefire agreement. They warned that continued violations undermine efforts to advance the second phase of the truce, which focuses on demilitarization, technocratic governance and reconstruction. Hamas and other Palestinian factions have announced their acceptance of the agreed roadmap for this phase.

The ceasefire agreement, a 20-point comprehensive plan that began in October 2025, had its first phase running from October 2025 to January 2026, focusing on halting fighting and humanitarian aid delivery.

Healthcare infrastructure under attack

The mediators called for the protection of civilians, medical personnel and healthcare facilities, while urging the international community to press Israel to fulfil its obligations. They also emphasized the need to facilitate uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid and medical supplies across Gaza.

The World Health Organization has verified over 930 attacks on healthcare in Gaza since October 2023. All 36 hospitals in the Gaza Strip have been damaged, with only about half partially functional as of early 2026.

Military operations continue

According to Al Jazeera, at least two people were killed in an Israeli attack southwest of Gaza City on Monday. Earlier that day, the Israel Defence Forces announced it had eliminated Adnan Taha Abu al-Tayf, identified as a Nukhba commander in Hamas's military wing. The Nukhba Force is Hamas's elite special operations unit within the Al-Qassam Brigades. According to Israeli military reports, approximately 3,800 Nukhba fighters participated in the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel.

In a separate strike in the Shati area, the IDF said it killed Jalal Tsubeih, identified as a commander in Hamas's Daraj Tuffah Battalion. According to the IDF, both individuals had recently attempted to advance attacks against Israeli troops and civilians.

West Bank raid injures woman

During the Nablus raid, ambulance crews treated a 56-year-old woman who fell from a height during the operation, according to Amjad Ahmad, director of the Palestinian Red Crescent's emergency and ambulance centre in Nablus. She was later transferred to a hospital.

The raid at Joseph's Tomb follows a pattern of escalating settler activity at the site. In May 2026, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich led approximately 5,000 settlers to the location, vowing to make the Israeli presence permanent and transfer control to the Israeli government despite its location in Palestinian-administered territory.
