OpenAI confirms widespread service disruptions impacting ChatGPT web app, mobile application, and developer APIs across UAE, US, Europe, and Asia, with investigation underway.

ChatGPT down in UAE: OpenAI confirms global outage
Users throughout the United Arab Emirates and across the globe are experiencing significant connectivity problems with ChatGPT. OpenAI has acknowledged the issue and confirmed it is investigating widespread service disruptions affecting its web application, mobile app, and developer API platforms.
The connectivity problems emerged approximately 30 minutes before 1:25 PM local time, impacting regular users, premium subscribers, and software developers who depend on OpenAI's application programming interface.
Worldwide service disruption
The outage is affecting users in multiple countries and territories, including the United States, European nations, India, Japan, Australia, and the UAE, according to data from DownDetector, a platform that monitors service interruptions.
OpenAI posted an acknowledgment on its official status monitoring page, confirming the company is examining the problem. The notice states the organization is investigating issues affecting multiple listed services.
Rising complaint volumes across affected regions
User-submitted problem reports have increased dramatically within the past hour. In the Emirates, outage notifications reached their highest point around 1:25 PM, with monitoring data showing that 68 percent of complaints related to primary ChatGPT functions, while 18 percent concerned the mobile application and 9 percent involved API services and code execution features.
In India, complaint numbers have exceeded 1,000 and are continuing to climb. Analysis of the reports indicates approximately 78 percent involve general ChatGPT operations, 9 percent originate from mobile app malfunctions, and 7 percent relate to API connectivity issues.
Recent service history
This incident marks the second significant service interruption in recent weeks. A previous temporary outage occurred just weeks ago, during which ChatGPT could handle basic text-based queries but experienced failures in image creation and code execution capabilities.
OpenAI has not provided a specific timeframe for when full service will be restored. The company is expected to implement server corrections to bring operations back to normal capacity.
