For the first time, actor Dhruv Vikram has broken his silence on the wave of public scrutiny surrounding his personal life, though he carefully avoided naming anyone or confirming specific relationship rumors. His remarks come amid widespread speculation linking him to the anonymous ex-boyfriend referenced by actress Anupama Parameswaran in a recent interview, where she detailed two years of what she described as narcissistic abuse.

The son of renowned Tamil actor Vikram and grandson of actor Vinod Raj, making him a third-generation performer in his family, Dhruv addressed the heightened attention during the India Today Tamil Roundtable held in August 2026. The event brought together policymakers, experts, thought leaders and industry voices to discuss regional and national issues, providing a serious professional forum for his first public comments on the matter.

Standing firm in truth

When asked how he has been coping with the increased public attention, Dhruv offered a candid response.

If I'm being honest, I can't say it has never affected me. That said, I think it's important to anchor yourself in reality. Know who you are, know what you stand for, and protect fiercely everybody that you love and everything that matters to you, or has ever mattered to you before.

The actor, who trained at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York, elaborated on his approach to handling scrutiny.

When you are aligned with the truth, and when you know what anchors you, scrutiny can only go so far. Subconsciously, you learn to be an army of one. You have your own world; you do the inner work. You protect your bubble as much as you can.

Creative pursuits over social media

The conversation also turned to Dhruv's notably minimal presence on Instagram. Asked with humor whether he maintains a private account, he joked that fans would

never know,

but clarified that his social media habits aren't the result of any calculated strategy.

I love to make these edits and shoot things. I love to shoot my dad, my niece and my pets. I make a lot of edits, even though I don't post them. I'm that guy who liked to use iMovie and cut videos to music,

he explained. Since 2022, Dhruv has been focusing primarily on singing, writing and performing both film and non-film songs, including writing and singing 'Missing Me' for the 2022 film Mahaan, which marked his father Vikram's 60th film and was released directly on Amazon Prime Video.

I feel like we've all had our field day out with social media, and that's like the town centre of the entire world. When I have promotions, I'm more active. At other times, I dissolve into reading or music. It's not a conscious decision,

Career context and speculation origins

The speculation connecting Dhruv to Anupama's interview stems from their collaboration in Mari Selvaraj's Bison Kaalamaadan, which was released on October 17, 2025, coinciding with Diwali. The film, based on the life of kabaddi player Manathi Ganesan, follows a man striving to excel in the sport while overcoming caste-based discrimination. It proved commercially successful, earning an estimated ₹75 crore at the box office against a budget of ₹30 crore.

The film marked a significant milestone for Dhruv, who made his acting debut with Adithya Varma in 2019 and had taken a near three-year hiatus from acting before returning with this project. Director Mari Selvaraj is known for critically acclaimed films addressing caste discrimination, including Pariyerum Perumal (2018), Karnan (2021), Maamannan (2023), and Vaazhai (2024).

Rumors began circulating while Dhruv and Anupama were filming Bison Kaalamaadan in 2025, with their subsequent public appearances together fueling further fan interest.

Anupama's revelations

In her appearance on the show I AM With Dhanya Varma, Anupama Parameswaran, who made her debut with the blockbuster Malayalam film Premam in 2015 playing Mary George, opened up about the emotional and physical toll of a past relationship. She described a pattern of love-bombing followed by cruelty, comparing her ex-partner's shifting behavior to the dual personas portrayed in the film Anniyan. In that 2005 film, Dhruv's father Vikram played three different characters with distinct personalities, earning critical acclaim. Anupama revealed she had lost considerable weight over the two-year period but kept the identity of the person undisclosed throughout the interview.

To date, neither Dhruv nor anyone representing him has issued a public confirmation or denial regarding a relationship with Anupama.
