Sharjah Police add 130 modern vehicles to strengthen security operations

Sharjah Police has strengthened its field capabilities with the addition of 130 modern security vehicles to its operational fleet, reinforcing efforts to enhance public safety, improve emergency response times and deliver more efficient police services across the emirate.

The fleet expansion forms part of Sharjah Police's strategic commitment to investing in advanced resources and operational capabilities to support security teams, increase field readiness and maintain a strong security presence throughout the emirate's neighbourhoods and communities.

The newly introduced vehicles are expected to enhance the ability of police teams to respond quickly to reports and security tasks, while supporting efforts to provide greater reassurance and safety for residents and visitors across Sharjah's 2,590 square kilometres.

Strategic investment in security infrastructure

The move comes as Sharjah's 2026 budget allocates approximately 12 per cent — about AED 5.3 billion of the total AED 44.5 billion budget — to government administration, security and safety sectors, representing a 16 per cent increase from 2025. This demonstrates the government's prioritisation of security infrastructure as the emirate serves a population estimated at 2.27 million people.

Major General Dr Ali Bualzoud, Director-General of the General Department of Resources and Supporting Services at Sharjah Police, said the fleet upgrade is part of the force's proactive plans to invest in modern technologies, advanced equipment and innovative solutions.

He explained that the initiative supports efforts to keep pace with rapid developments in the security sector, enhance the efficiency and flexibility of field operations, and strengthen partnerships with private-sector organisations to benefit from specialised expertise and the latest technologies.

Part of wider modernisation drive

The vehicle deployment represents the latest step in Sharjah Police's ongoing modernisation programme. In April 2026, the force added the rugged Grenadier 4x4 vehicle to its fleet specifically for challenging terrain operations, while in July 2026, new airport police uniforms were unveiled to enhance operational readiness.

The comprehensive approach to modernisation extends beyond the police force. In June 2026, Sharjah Civil Defence deployed a new fleet of IVECO T-WAY 480 fire and support vehicles with 16,000-litre water tanks, demonstrating coordinated emergency service investment across multiple agencies.

Recent workforce expansion also underscores the need for additional vehicles. In July 2026, Sharjah Police promoted 1,921 personnel in rank adjustments, creating operational requirements for a proportionally larger vehicle fleet to support the growing workforce.

Advanced capabilities and technology

The new vehicles are equipped with advanced technical and technological systems designed to support modern policing requirements. They include smart communication systems, specialised field equipment and enhanced safety features that improve operational efficiency and support officers while performing their duties.

The advanced capabilities will contribute to faster response times, more accurate execution of security missions and improved performance across various areas of police work. UAE police forces have increasingly focused on emergency response standards, with Dubai Police achieving an average response time of 5.8 minutes in the first 10 months of 2025, exceeding their strategic target of 6.6 minutes.

Building on strong safety performance

The fleet expansion builds on already strong security performance. In June 2026, Sharjah Police reported achieving a 99.7 per cent sense of safety rating among residents according to quality-of-life indicators, positioning the emirate among the safest cities in the region.

Major General Dr Bualzoud highlighted that developing the security fleet represents one of the strategic pillars adopted by Sharjah Police to enhance operational resources, improve police services and maintain security readiness in line with global best practices.

He added that the continued development of the fleet contributes to strengthening community security and stability, while ensuring an active security presence close to residents throughout the emirate. The goal is to provide advanced security services that meet the aspirations of Sharjah and reinforce its position as a leading example in security excellence and community-focused policing.
