Thousands join Dubai Ride 2026 on Sheikh Zayed Road
Dubai Ride 2026 is under way, with thousands of cyclists taking over Sheikh Zayed Road for the free community event on Sunday, November 1. The ride is the first flagship event of this year's Dubai Fitness Challenge, taking place during its opening weekend.

Routes and access
Cyclists have a choice of a 12-kilometer route on Sheikh Zayed Road or a family-friendly, 4-kilometer loop through Downtown Dubai. Landmarks along the routes include the Museum of the Future, Dubai Water Canal, Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera.
According to Dubai Fast Living, the routes open at 6:15 a.m., with all riders expected to start by 7:30 a.m. and the routes closing at 8 a.m. Organizers recommend arriving between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. A speed limit of 25 km/h applies.
Both routes welcome People of Determination, with a dedicated support team and designated entry points for adapted bicycles, handcycles and tandem bikes, Dubai Fast Living reports.
Ahead of the ride, registered participants were required to pick up their bibs and T-shirts from the Dubai Municipality 30x30 Fitness Village at Zabeel Park, Gate 2. The collection period ran from October 28 through 31.
Traffic restrictions and Metro service
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that three major roads would temporarily close for the event from 3 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on November 1. Its suggested alternatives for drivers include Upper Financial Centre Street, Zabeel Palace Street, Al Wasl Road and Al Khail Road.
Participants can also use Dubai Metro, which has extended its operating hours to run from 3 a.m. until midnight for travel to and from the ride.
Prizes for decorated bikes and costumes
This edition introduces the "Dress Your Ride" competition, announced on October 17, 2026. According to Khaleej Times, four prizes of Dh10,000 each are available for best overall bike, most creative theme, best family costume and best group costume.
To enter, riders decorate their bikes, wear costumes or do both, then pose for official event photographers during the event.
The challenge's 10th edition
Last year's Dubai Ride set a participation record with 40,327 cyclists, compared with 37,130 in 2024. More than 20,000 riders took part in the inaugural event in 2020; the Government of Dubai Media Office describes the 2025 turnout as more than double that first edition's participation.
The broader Dubai Fitness Challenge runs from October 31 through November 29, 2026, under the slogan "What's Your 30x30?" Now in its 10th edition, the initiative was launched in 2017 by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. According to the Government of Dubai Media Office, it attracted more than 16 million participants across its first nine editions.
Dubai Ride is the first of four flagship mass-participation events on the 2026 schedule. Next is Dubai Stand-Up Paddle presented by RTA at Hatta Dam on November 7 and 8, followed by Dubai Run on November 22. Dubai Yoga presented by MHERO will close the challenge on November 29.
The city is also hosting several international sporting events during the challenge month, the Government of Dubai Media Office says. The calendar includes the Emaar Dubai Premier Padel P1 on November 8–15, the DP World Tour Championship on November 12–15, the Dubai T100 Triathlon on November 13–15, the Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix presented by DP World on November 21–22 and the Emirates Dubai 7s on November 27–29.
