Qualifications and application details

The vacancy, requisition 30732, specifies a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and zero to two years of experience. Its preferred-candidate section separately lists a bachelor's degree or higher diploma and says no experience is required.

Applicants are directed to the company site. The listing displays February 19, 2027, alongside a countdown stating that applications close in 119 days. It does not identify the specific facility or business unit where the East Region position would be based.

The requested competencies include project management, MS Office, teamwork, communication and time management. The posting also calls for organization, creativity, critical thinking, initiative, leadership, physical fitness and the ability to work under pressure.

Transformer work and project responsibilities

The engineer would oversee electrical project tasks against schedules, quality requirements and company procedures. Daily site planning is part of the role, along with determining what cranes or other equipment are needed to assemble or dismantle transformers.

Technical duties span the equipment's arrival through installation and operation. They include inspecting incoming transformers, confirming that accessories are available, checking impact recorders and retrieving their data. The engineer would install transformers and their accessories, carry out vacuuming and oil filtration, and perform testing and commissioning.

The job also involves troubleshooting and maintenance, routine electrical testing at factories and project sites under international standards, and low-voltage testing on-site. During repair or manufacturing, the engineer would conduct tests at successive stages and ensure that transformer testing follows best practices.

Coordination duties include arranging gate passes and work permits with marketing and planning staff and customers. Despite its entry-level designation, the posting also assigns supervisory responsibilities: training and coaching subordinates, delegating assignments and sharing work fairly.

Other responsibilities include meeting delivery targets, controlling resource use and costs, reporting deviations from planned work, resolving problems and escalating complex operational issues. The role also covers quality-control processes, written procedures, opportunities for automation, and compliance with safety, environmental and other applicable requirements.

alfanar's manufacturing and service operations

Headquartered in Riyadh, alfanar operates construction and manufacturing businesses, design and development centers, and other facilities across the Middle East and beyond. The posting names three main divisions: alfanar electric, alfanar Construction and alfanar Building Systems. Its activities include electrical, electromechanical and civil construction, electrical construction products and related engineering services.

The group was founded in Riyadh in 1976, employs more than 10,000 people and exports to more than 55 markets. Its Alfanar Projects division describes it as Saudi Arabia's largest privately owned manufacturer of electrical and electronic products. The Al-Fouzan family privately owns the group, according to Saudi Compute.

According to alfanar's business-units page, its manufacturing operations are centered at Medinet alfanar, also known as alfanar Industrial City. The 700,000-square-meter Riyadh complex contains multiple factories and laboratories.

Saudi Compute reports that alfanar manufactures power and distribution transformers in Riyadh, where workshops make both dry-type and oil-filled models to customer specifications. Its manufacturing lines also produce power cables ranging from 1 kV to 33 kV, as well as medium-voltage ring main units and switchgear panels rated to IEC standards.

In Jubail, alfanar Technical Services provides repair and rewind services for medium- and high-voltage equipment. The company says the operation handles static and rotating equipment, including transformers, motors and generators, and has testing facilities that meet international standards. The vacancy does not identify this operation as the hiring unit.

Engineering employment rules

Separately, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development issued a decision on engineering employment that took effect on December 31, 2025. It raises the localization, or Saudization, rate for engineering professions to 30% and sets a minimum wage of SAR 8,000 in the private and nonprofit sectors.

The decision applies to establishments with at least five workers in engineering professions, covers 46 engineering professions and requires Saudi Council of Engineers accreditation. The alfanar vacancy does not mention the decision or specify a salary or nationality requirement.
