Coordinating teaching and assessment

The manager would oversee curriculum support for both foundational sciences and clinical education. Working with academic leaders, course and clerkship teams, faculty and institutional partners, the appointee would develop master schedules and academic calendars for approval and ensure that teaching activities have the resources, facilities, technology and administrative support they need on time.

The role includes supervising office workflows, calendars, records and service standards, as well as resolving operational problems that could disrupt the curriculum. As the main administrative contact for curriculum committees, the manager would organize meetings, document decisions and track follow-up actions, while also representing OCS on committees when required.

Exam administration would span scheduling, preparation of systems and materials, proctor assignments and training, security, and coordination of approved procedures for processing results. The manager would monitor the preparation and timely submission of student performance data and final grades, referring delays, discrepancies or risks to the appropriate academic authority.

The appointee would also work with stakeholders to keep curriculum objectives, teaching activities, assessments and evaluation processes aligned. Responsibilities extend to supporting curriculum-management, learning-management and online examination systems, specifying operational needs for upgrades, documenting OCS procedures and improving services using operational evidence and stakeholder feedback.

Curriculum records and institutional coordination

The manager would maintain curriculum information used in accreditation, internal reports, curriculum mapping, student handbooks, websites and other official publications. WCM-Q's medical program received full accreditation from The Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Medical Education in August 2022, following a comprehensive assessment. That accreditation was granted for six years.

The job also involves working with counterpart curriculum and educational development offices at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) to transfer approved curricular materials and put them into use locally.

WCM-Q introduced its integrated medical curriculum in September 2016, building on the preceding curriculum. The reform sought closer integration of foundational sciences with clinical learning and introduced patient care from the first day of study. Its three organizing themes are Scientific Basis of Medicine, Patient Care and Physicianship.

Qualifications and application window

Applicants need a bachelor's degree in health, education or a related discipline and seven to eight years of experience in curriculum administration or academic operations in higher or medical education.

The posting calls for extensive knowledge of academic operations and computer-based academic support systems. Candidates should be able to organize work, apply best practices, allocate time and resources, guide administrative staff and work across a diverse campus community. It also requires attention to detail, the ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines, strong organizational and customer-service skills, and an approach focused on improving processes.

Excellent spoken and written English, presentation skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, are also listed. The Bayt.com posting displays an application window of 22 days remaining.

The medical school and its programs

Established in 2001 through a partnership between Cornell University and the Qatar Foundation, WCM-Q is Qatar's first medical school. According to the institution's materials, it is also the first American medical school to offer its MD degree overseas.

Its Six-Year Medical Program leads to the Cornell University MD degree. Students first complete two years of pre-medical study focused on basic sciences, then a four-year medical curriculum that combines normal and abnormal biology with early exposure to patients.

The institution's 2023-2024 fact sheet recorded 345 students from more than 30 countries. Of those, 207 were enrolled in the medical curriculum, 117 in the pre-medical curriculum and 21 in the Foundation Program.

WCM-Q also describes its clinical skills center as the first in the region. The facility includes 12 fully equipped examination rooms, computerized medical manikins and a standardized patient educator resource.
